Why Go Private?

One thing that many dentists fail to explain is that although NHS dentistry is widely available and popular, it really represents the very minimum standard that one should expect for their dental work. If you want the best quality of materials, extra time taken by the dentist, longer lasting repairs, or purely cosmetic dentistry then this, sadly, is not possible through the NHS.

Most private dentistry in the UK is provided by dentists who also provide NHS services. If you have previously only taken NHS treatments from our practice but would now like to enjoy the benefits of private clinical and cosmetic dentistry then please talk to your dentist at your next appointment about the options and possibilities that are available.

Listed below are some of the treatments we can offer through private dentistry.

White Fillings

Composite or white fillings can be used in all areas of the mouth. Old amalgam (metal) fillings can be replaced with this material giving the mouth a more natural look. Where appropriate they can also be used to improve the appearance of front teeth, for example treating an area of stained enamel.

Veneers

This is a porcelain facing, in effect a dental version of a false fingernail. Veneers can be used to disguise large areas of staining, irregular sized teeth, poorly aligned teeth, and to close gaps. This would involve minimal preparation to the front surface of the tooth which when bonded to the tooth becomes extremely strong and long-lasting.

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns are used to strengthen teeth that have become weakened by wear and tear or the presence of large fillings. They can be all porcelain or porcelain bonded to a metal which adds strength to the restoration.

Bridges are used to replace missing teeth. However, not every mouth is suitable for this treatment.

Implants

An implant is the very best treatment that can be offered to replace missing teeth. They can be used to replace just a single missing tooth, or even for a whole mouth. Implants are designed to last for life and have a 97% success rate. The major contra-indication to treatment with implants is if you are a smoker as this affects your ability to heal.

General Dentistry

The practice also provides all forms of general dentistry.
